we where the railway children the whole world in our hands Untamed freedom And master plans No one could take those times We ruled the land Blessed with a thirst for adventure rules had no place with us We where the railway children No care for the future Chasing hot air balloons and watching the tracks catch fire the sun would set and we'd take to the river where the green leaf canopy hid us from the world We all feel safe now down by the fire where we can hear the river See the embers float up on higher a breeze brings a shiver The summers seemed to last forever where we can hear the river The summers they lasted forever where we can hear the river We are the railway children Now trapped in our futures Jaded by factory clock ins and big city smoke Always forward never looking back but we can't let go of those nights or we'll forget who we are We are the railway children the whole world in our hands what happened to untamed freedoms the master plans we'll always have those days and midsummer nights inside that fire still burns and with the river we flow I Look forward to one day when we all return sit down by that fire watch the embers burn I look forward to one day when we all return down by the river let the memories confirm

Another mill burns and leaves an empty shell Generations of migration left as stories to tell Beacons of hope fade while walls fall down Untold strain placed on a small town The Kings of industry are we we'll burn our future with the past The Kings of Industry are we We’ll burn our future we will not last Our fathers and mothers came from afar now nothing left to show you who they really are our sisters and brother will travel far never sure who we really are

We Become Desensitised as another idol dies a generation turns to dust as we deal with the boom and bust. What will it take to realise? The frustration we disguise. And how our elders show disgust, as our lives are led by lust Where is the love? Where is the love that we feel? Where is the love, that sets us apart? we let our lives be led by a gun no attempts to reconcile, just denial and fumble on without a thought forget the fears that we were taught so maybe we’ll sleep tonight tonight take the years from your son and he’ll take the same from his own, should have known a lesson not learnt is problem passed and over the years it will amass but at least you can sleep tonight

Liza & Henry 05:48
Another pale of water wasted to this Bucket full of holes repeated trips to the well with nothing to show my feet you see are soaked to the bone my feet you see are soaked to the bone Liza won't you fix this for me the wells drying up can't you see but we'll keep looking for springs a new because there's nothings else for us to do Henry I told you, you'll get no help from me the hole in that bucket needs to be fixed by you so go back to the barn and fetch yourself some straw use it to fix the hole and try once more i've tried straw for the hole but it was too long the axe I brought to cut well it was too dull wet stone I brought to sharp but with out water it wasn't wet so I pick up my bucket and start again Another pale of water wasted to this Bucket full of holes repeated trips to the well with nothing to show my feet you see are soaked to the bone my feet you see Are soaked to the bone Liza won't you fix this for me the wells dried up can't you see but we'll keep looking for springs a new because there's nothings left for us to do

I'm in need of salvation i'm still in the fray searching out an incantation or new mantra to say I didn't come to preach I came to learn and I've learned a simple smile can turn it round it takes so little to be proud we all follow different feet still we walk on the same streets, just to cover ground an old friend may stop and stare it's not too late to show you care, just hold out hand and we can try on another day if it's not too late, if it's not too late so another one's tied the knot finding room for a second cot it appears they've got the lot and moved along do we judge by their advance or give the dreams another chance say we lived without regret claim there’s life in this dream yet say you never find the one or write the song that should be sung would you still smile? Cos all we have to give is this it's what we've learned and what we've lived here's what we've learned a simple smile can turn it round it takes so little to be proud we all follow different feet still we walk on the same streets, just to cover ground an old friend may stop and stare it's not too late to show you care, just hold out hand and we can try on another day if it's not too late, if it's not too late say you never found the one or wrote the song that should be sung would you still smile? Because you may never find the one or write the song that should be sung but you should still smile you should still smile

Little Scars 06:25
Little Scars I see she bares a thorn in her side and I can see why every one wants to try and be the one to pull it out I see she bares a thorn in her side when she tries and she tries without even asking why there was lies to get by Now we feel the the thorn in our side when we try and we tried without even asking why there where lies to get by With a little help she can take the thorn she self medicates but it can't go on, for long With a little help we can take the thorn The wait it grates but it won't go on, for long The scars from the thorn in her side will fade in time but we need them to remind of the times, we left behind We pick ourselves up when we fall and we fall together And we'll be there for her call if she'll fall again We pick ourselves up when we fall and we fall together And we'll be there for her call when she falls again she can take the world by storm she can take the whole world by storm These scars are the wounds of time and they'll fade but we need them to remind of the times we need them to remind

You & I 03:49
So it's about You and I Some times I can't say who you are but I don't know who I am half of the time if it's about you and I it's about the reasons why I'm keen to know what you think about my toil and ryhme Some times it's easier to lie but then there is no looking back and our advances will never flow quite right if it's easier to lie just to struggle to get by what was the point if we're never quite on track caught up in the moment we all appear the same caught up in the moment we can ignore the blame there is something I should admit the world I shaped doesn't seem to quite fit but I'll hammer till it feels just right take a piece of me take a piece of me and try to fit it in If it was all strait forward We'd already know the chorus Instead we take time and keep looking forward And try to think of the chorus and hope we have time all caught up in the moment they all appear the same but caught up in the moment we can ignore the blame

There's one thing we know for sure That's that I can't stay It's happened ten times or more but at least it started with you we start over we grow older we start over again and again we start over we grow older we start over again and again I can't see far down the path that I take or even if it's the right one but when I know I'm sure to tell because I want to walk it with you there's one thing we know for sure that that I wont stay it's gonna happen at least ten times more but at least it started with you

an old coat reminds you who you really are why you chose those friends and wasted away those hours maybe if you where stronger you'd still be there facing all weather without a care So pull the coat tight tie those ropes right those fires have burned brighter but there is still fight inside yer Long Live Long Live, We Cracks have shown hate been thrown but it can't be said for certain if we meant a word spoken Maybe if we where younger we'd still be there facing all weather without a care it takes it's toll on the soul though it's there in the first place because you love the look on their face though cracks have shown and hate been thrown its almost certain we didn't mean a word spoken

Erosion 05:23
The waves they crash against the face they pull the cliffs away every year the paths are moved the last years walks erased The waves they crash against the cliffs and pull the earth away and once again the paths are moved as if they are the same a smiling face approaches one I should surely know but like so many other a spark barely shows I blame the drink yet I won't stop just replace forgotten times with new and once again the paths are moved as if they are the same I find safety in the faults of others but I'm sure that's not the way look for relief in others grief so I may be the same blame drink and drugs on all the rot a change must be made and once again the paths are moved as if they are the same The waves they lap against my face they wash the dirt away every year baptised the same with the hope next year will change the waves still crash against the cliffs they pull the earth away and once again the paths are moved as if they are the same

about

Joe Tilston UK

Joe has a punk heart, but his music has a different heartbeat. It's Folkish, it’s beautiful, and at times cutting and direct.
The music takes influence from a childhood brought up in smokey, beer swilled folk clubs. "Tightrope” still bears the mark of teenage rebellion, that has taken Joe through the world's punk and ska scenes. It's full of songs of Death & Hope, and is unashamed to bare all.
